This means that while your bicycle will tolerate a lot of use and misuse, it will function much more safely, efficiently, comfortably and quietly if it is regularly maintained. We recommend a full overhaul after 12 months to two years, 5000 to 12000 kms. More often if it is ridden in all weathers or in rough conditions, less if it is only ridden on Beach Road on sunny Sundays. What do we do? - Remove, inspect and lube head bearings
- Degrease cranks, chainrings, cogs/cassette, chain
- Clean and grease bottom bracket and fit new loose ball bearings (sealed cartridge bottom brackets will also generally be removed so that threads and shoulders can be greased to prevent corrosion)
- Disassemble and inspect hubs, clean and grease and fit new bearings/cones as necessary
- Clean and lube sligers under boots and check operation of suspension forks
- Remove seatpost and headstem (quill) from frake and fork, clean and grease insertion areas as necessary
What does it cost?The cost of overhaul is $185 (inc GST). Additional labour or parts are provided at an additional cost and we provide a quote that is as accurate as possible upon booking. We contact you for approval where additional costs more than $10 above quote are identified, unless agreed otherwise.
