We think of all the little things, so check out this page of bikepacking accessories for your next ride; from dropper post adapters to Voile Straps.
Alright, let’s start with the most useful thing you will ever take on a trip. It’s a Voile Strap. You could use any other type of rubberized bungee cord, but Voile’s are the best. Their rubber doesn’t perish in the blazing heat of the Australian summer. And it resists ripping & tearing no matter how hard you pull. You can ratchet just about anything on to your bike bags with these straps. They stretch incredibly far, and hold fast.
There’s simply no more useful thing you could bring along in terms of accessories. Change shoes half way through your ride & hang them off your saddle bag. Sort out a rattling bottle or a poorly packed handlebar roll. Carry your jacket on top of your saddle pack in the weather. Or fix someone elses packing problems on the ride. There simply isn’t any good reason why you don’t carry a Voile Strap.
Next up is the classic bikepacking bum bag. Now if you know a serious bikepacker, then you know someone wearing a bum bag. Carrying every little thing you might need on a ride is hard. And harder still is figuring out what you want to keep close to hand. The bum bag is the solution for this. You can keep a really decent among of gear to hand on a bum bag. And it solves the problem of the sweat and tired shoulders you get from a backpack.
we may call it a bum bag, but the serious heads in the game call it a Hip Pack. Check out the one from Apidura for the ultimate in waterproof comfort. It’s far more suited to riding than the one you wear to the cafe!
