Tools & Repairs on a bikepacking trip are just about the number one packing consideration. Or maybe that’s just us. But we firmly believe taking the right tools will save the day, if not for yourself then someone else!
If you need a quick reassurance that you have remembered everything, here is our suggested list:
Now we have that out of the way, we suggest you bring these things just to ensure you can limp your way to the next destination.
Depending on how extreme your ride is, bringing a needle & thread can be handy for repairs to tents & to tyres. Tyre rips can get crazy, and those good looking gum wall tyres have weak sidewalls. So bringing a needle & thread can be a very light addition to your bike first aid kit.
Bikepacking tools & repairs are often messy – bringing a rag can be a good idea too! Speaking of messy, bringing a small amount of tubeless sealant is always a good idea. Even if you are riding with tubes, it can be added to your inner tube if things get desperate. We would always recommend running tubeless on your bikepacking rides these days. But if you can’t, sealant is still handy!
