Should you replace your axle with a Robert Axle version?
Whether or not you will benefit from a Robert Axle (RAP) depends on a few factors.
Often it is frustration with the low quality of a stock axle that sees customers turn to RAP. If you have ever felt frustrated by the handle on your bike’s axle then you will appreciate a RAP replacement.
RAP produces a range of axles that are designed to replace the stock axles on a variety of bike brands and models. Their axles are typically lighter and stronger than stock axles.
If your aim is to have a very lightweight bike, you will often find a RAP axle is lighter than your stock axle.
This does not mean they compromise on strength though. In fact the strength of RAP axle’s is a motivator for so many mountain bikers. You will find the high quality RAP axle will outperform a stock axle under almost all conditions.
Sometimes however, axle’s simply fail over time. With use & continuous removal axle’s will wear & loosen. A loose axle is most definitely a danger to you as a rider & we would recommend a RAP replacement.
