Choosing your Apidura Saddle Pack
Apidura saddle packs allow you to gain a huge amount of carrying capacity, without committing to installing a rear rack or compromising on the handling of your bike, or losing your bottle cage mounts. They are an absolute must for any bikepacking set up and something we highly recommend you consider before taking off into the great unknown.
Volume & sizing
Apidura Saddle Packs are designed to carry as much as possible on your seat post, meaning they come in high volume sizes like the 17L Expedition Saddle Pack. This is great for carrying bulky but lightweight loads such as your sleeping bag, your clothes or sleeping mat. While a large capacity underseat bag is a great way to optimise your set up, if you are riding a smaller size frame with limited clearance between the rear tyre and the underside of the saddle pack, then the smaller 9L Saddle Pack from Apidura will work for you.
Saddle Packs and Dropper Posts
Saddle Packs are the bikepackers best friend, even when you have a dropper post. Apidura Saddle-Packs use a non-abrasive velcro strap to attach to your seat post, which is not damaging to your seat post, however with dropper posts there are other considerations. To protect the surface of the dropper post stanchion to ensure it remains smooth and clean for proper performance of the dropper, there is the Apidura Backcountry Dropper Post Adapter. This adapter clips on to the seat post, allowing for attaching the saddle-pack to the adapter rather than the post itself, and means that you can still use the dropper post without the risk of crushing the velcro attachment of the saddle pack. The Apidura Backcountry Dropper Post Adapter also works with saddle packs from other bikepacking bag manufacturers such as Revelate, Ortlieb or Brooks, so is a handy accessory to have in your bikepacking kit!
Finding the right Apidura Frame Pack
Frame packs, they are the best place carry heavy loads on long rides. But they can be the trickiest purchase you make in your preparation for your next adventure.
Just like every rider is different, every bike is different and needs a different frame bag solution. Whether you are after a full frame bag to take advantage of your entire main triangle, or whether you just want to utilise the half frame allowing you to keep your water bottle cages in, we have options for you. Apidura make compact & tall frame packs in different sizes and capacities and we stock them all here and in store.
