Repairs may be the bane of your existence on a long ride, but they are our wheelhouse here at Abbotsford Cycles!
And we can absolutely recommend some good kit to carry with you to save the day on your next trip.
Probably the most common repair you will need to perform on your bike is to the tyre or tube. Unfortunately rolling around on rubber has it’s downsides. Apart from being a permeable surface, your rubber is subject to tear, rip & generally wear down.
Through no fault of your own, you are likely to find yourself with a puncture on a ride one day. And whether it happens out in the bush or in the CBD, it helps to be carrying the right gear to deal with it.
So arm yourself with some equipment to repair your tyre if you expect a tear. We’re thinking of your bikepackers here! The Australian bush is a harsh place and there are ‘tri corner thorns’ out there that will rip through anything. Arming yourself with a tyre boot for those running tubes is a must. Though the emergency solution is of course the old $5 note inside your tyre.
Don’t let your tubeless ruin your day though, it isn’t a fool-proof system yet! So be sure to bring along some dynaplugs if you are expecting to go way out on your own. There’s some holes which are simply too large for sealant to plug up. So grab yourself some plugs to get back on your way.
